Withdrawal from a course for Spring 2017

Students may drop a class in one of the following ways:

  • Drop the course online using My.IllinoisState.edu (This option is available October 17th, 2016-January 30th, 2017 when registration is open).
  • Come in person to the Registrar Service Center located in 107 Moulton Hall.  Photo id is required.  The Registrar Service Center is open Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm.
  • Email a request to have a course dropped to registrar@IllinoisState.edu. Only requests sent from a studentís Illinois State University email account will be processed. Requests made through Yahoo, Google, etc. will not be accepted.
  • Mail a letter requesting the course be dropped.  The letter must be signed and can be mailed to:  Illinois State University, Office of the University Registrar, Campus Box 2202, Normal, IL  61790-2202.
  • Fax a request to the Registrar Service Center.  The request must be signed, contain a copy of a photo id and can be faxed to (309) 438-8652.

Monday, October 17, 2016-January 30, 2017 – Students may drop a course with no withdrawal grade and a full adjustment of charges. Financial aid may be reduced.  

Friday, February 10th – Last day to withdraw from a first-half semester course. A withdrawal grade of WX will be assigned. No adjustment of charges or financial aid. 

Friday, March 10th – Last day to withdraw from a full-semester course. A withdrawal grade of WX will be assigned. No adjustment of charges or financial aid.

Thursday, March 23rd – Last day to drop a second-half semester course with no withdrawal grade and a full adjustment of charges. Financial aid may be reduced.

Friday, April 14th – Last day to withdraw from a second-half semester course. A withdrawal grade of WX will be assigned. No adjustment of charges or financial aid.

A withdrawal grade of WX is not computed in the student’s GPA.  For courses taken during the term that last less than half a semester (i.e. five weeks), please contact the Registrar Service Center at (309) 438-2188 to obtain proportional withdrawal deadlines.  Information regarding the adjustment of charges and financial aid in accordance to the Withdrawal Policy can be found at:  http://studentaccounts.illinoisstate.edu/withdrawal/

 

 

University Withdrawal Information for spring 2017 (withdrawal from all courses)

Regardless of the circumstances of withdrawal, students must still obtain clearance for room and board and other financial obligations.  Please consult the catalog for additional responsibilities.  Students may withdraw from the University in one of the following ways:

October 17, 2016-January 16, 2017 – Students may withdraw from the University with no withdrawal grades assigned and a full adjustment of charges. Financial aid will be reduced.
January 17th-January 30th – Students may withdraw from the University with no withdrawal grades assigned. Students will be assessed a $30.00 fee and financial aid will be reduced.
January 31st-April 14th – Students may withdraw from the University.  A withdrawal grade of WX will be assigned for all courses.  Charges and financial aid are adjusted in accordance to the Withdrawal Policy found at:  http://studentaccounts.illinoisstate.edu/withdrawal/
After April 14th-Students are no longer permitted to withdraw from the University for the spring 2017 semester and will earn a letter grade in all courses.
