Educator Licensure

Before you can apply for your teaching licensure, Evaluation Services will:

  • Conduct a final audit of your academic record
  • Post your degree
  • Notify the ISBE that you have completed your entitlement program
  • Send you an email explaining how to apply for your Professional Educator License via ELIS through the ISBE website

The final audit does not occur until:

  • your student teaching is finished
  • all other graduation requirements [including applying for graduation] are completed, and final grades have been turned in

Even if you are not planning to teach in Illinois or in the immediate future, you need to complete the application process within one [1] year of your graduation. Delaying the application process can result in additional requirements, tests, and/or forms in order to be certified. Applications MUST be submitted online via your ELIS account.

Entitlement Audit Request

All graduating education majors need to complete and submit this form regardless if you are seeking additional endorsements or not no later than the 6th week of the semester one is graduating in. For corrections or omissions, please re-submit the form. The latest version will be used. No additional changes (forms) will be accepted after the end of the term. Click on the link for the form.
