ALEKS

Students are required to complete math course(s) to meet Illinois State University general education requirements or the Illinois Articulation Initiative General Education Core Curriculum. Students who do not have an alternative form of Math Placement will be asked to complete the ALEKS Math Placement Assessment. The ALEKS is an online math assessment used to help place students into the math course most suitable for their degree and skill level.

The ALEKS can be taken anywhere, on any compatible computer with reliable internet access. It is not proctored and does not need to be taken on campus. Students will be given a total of three hours to complete their assessment. Allowed resources include scratch paper and a writing instrument. Students are prohibited from getting assistance from others or using textbooks, calculators, and outside websites during their assessment.

Prior to logging in or paying for the ALEKS, please meet with an advisor to confirm whether you have an alternative form of math placement. Questions about placement and math course requirements should be directed to Advising
